We are incredibly proud to recognize Wes-Del cross country runner Noelle Ernstberger, who received an IHSAA Exemplary Behavior Report following her actions at today’s New Haven Classic. During the girls Gold race, Noelle noticed that a runner from another school had collapsed on the course and needed assistance. Instead of continuing her race, Noelle turned around and ran in the opposite direction to find an official who could help. In doing so, she sacrificed valuable time and her place in the race to make sure another student-athlete received the assistance she needed. A spectator, Jill McKay, witnessed Noelle’s actions and submitted the Exemplary Behavior Report to the IHSAA to recognize her sportsmanship and selflessness. Coach Lamb also shared how proud our program is of Noelle, and her actions are a tremendous example of what being a Wes-Del Warrior is all about. While times and finishes are important, moments like this remind us that character, compassion and doing what is right matter far more than any result. Congratulations, Noelle! We are extremely proud of the way you represented yourself, our cross country program, and Wes-Del. This is Warrior Pride at its very best!
